“Tehran’s Song of Loneliness” focuses on the universal issue of isolation, Salur told Mehr News Agency.
“I hope it will enter Cannes, but the Cannes festival does not seem the end of the world to me,” he said.
“I am an independent filmmaker and do not employ stars for my movies. I only try to make the audiences enjoy the work, cry with its tragic events and smile at its comic situations.”
He also explained that “Tehran’s Song of Loneliness” is a dark comedy about the hardships of life in Tehran, “Life is becoming more and more difficult in the metropolis of Tehran and (the social problems) are affecting personal relationships. I have tried to tell a fluent story about this.”
He noted that “Tehran’s Song of Loneliness” was an entry to last year’s Fajr Film Festival. It was not screened, however.
Salur’s comedy “A Few Kilos of Dates for a Funeral” (2006) won the Special Jury Prize in the Filmmakers of the Present section at the 59th Locarno International Film Festival.
